Check the edition and version
Java and Bedrock are separate editions. Clients, extensions and worlds must match the server edition. Accept Minecraft’s licence terms before installation.
Back up your world
Create a backup before changing the version, mods or plugins. Updating a world may prevent it from working on older versions.
Adjust settings
Stop the server before editing server.properties. Adjust simulation distance to your resources and player count. Only install extensions compatible with the server software.
Test before opening to the public
Restart, then test the world and permissions with a few players. Review memory use and console messages. If load remains high, reduce settings or contact support.
